Yaki (Heated with fire) technique originated in Japan in the early 1700's as a way to treat cedar and cypress siding; making it fire retardant and water resistant. Adopted by furniture makers the technique not only darkens the wood but exposes amazing textures and beautiful grain patterns. You really have to touch these tables to full appreciate them.
